Some white people call this insect "hobby horse". The praying mantis apparently is supposed to be able to find where the tribe's prey is: "When Omaha and Ponca children find a mantis, they crouch over it singing 'Ṭeataṭa, Ṭeataṭa, ṭeawame' and it turns its head toward the buffalo (or the foe)."
