F. gave (1886) the meaning 'to pursue': but as used by the Ponkas, that cannot be the meaning, for weanaxiȼai means we are attacked, and was said when the Ponkas were surprised by a hostile party of Dakotas in 1872. The true idea seems to be this: to make a sudden dash,swoop raid, or incursion on foes.
